Here are a few websites that I found useful for teaching Language Arts

·         Reading Rockets
 http://www.readingrockets.org/books/interviews/weatherford/  this is a site dedicated to helping children read more. This website has a lot of cool things, such as interviews with children's book authors, lists of books for children through 12th Grade as well as information for parents, teachers & principles. They also have award winning books, reading guides and info on strategies for getting your little one to read.
·         ReadWriteThink
 http://www.readwritethink.org/ this interactive website offers both students & teachers the chance to create their own classroom resources, such as story maps, crossword puzzles, brochures and much more! This site also comes equipped with different projects, games and activities for students to do.
·         BooksShouldBeFree.com  is a site for teachers and students to download free audiobooks on just about any topic or interest.
·         Wordia
http://www.wordia.com/  is basically a video dictionary. It includes both professional and submitted videos that explain the meaning of a word. This site is great for students who struggle with spelling.
·         Bubbl.us is a free graphic organizing tool that helps students to develop story outlines.
·         AdLit.org is a site dedicated to young children’s literature. It provides parents and teachers with strategies for reading and writing, book lists and interviews with authors.
·         Education World
http://www.educationworld.com/a_curr/archives/lang.shtml is a site that encompasses not only language arts but other subjects as well, such as math. This site offers strategies for reading and writing as well as tips for teachers on how to motivate their students to read.
·         National Clearing House for English Language Acquisition
http://classroomaid.sharedby.co/172417d2dc9ecdc1/?web=467e1a&dst=http%3A//www.ncela.gwu.edu/ is a site dedicated to the sharing of the best websites available for teachers including language arts, math and science.
·         Literature Map
http://classroomaid.sharedby.co/172417d2dc9ecdc1/?web=b7d56e&dst=http%3A//www.literature-map.com/ just type in the name of an author and a webbed list of authors whose books relate to the author you chose will appear. The names that are closet relate to the author’s name you chose.
·         Interactive Sites for Education
http://interactivesites.weebly.com/vocabulary.html is an interactive site for students. They simply click on the topic, such as vocabulary, poetry, alphabet, etc. and a list of interactive games appears  for them to choose from.

·         Federal Resources for Educational Excellence
http://www.free.ed.gov/subjects.cfm?subject_id=78 this language arts based website gives parents, students and teachers info on different writers, books and other resources. For example if you click on writers and then pick a specific genre it will give you a mini description of all the famous authors of that genre.
